Microsoft last week launced it new search engine 'Bing' in its latest attempt to take on search goliath Google. Bing replaces Microsofts previous attempt at taking on the might of Google, Windows Live Search.

Today google announced the pending release of new technology for communication and collaboration. This new collaboration engine unites email, instant messaging, blogs and wikis into a single hosted conversation. These conversations or “Waves” take place inside Safari, Firefox, or Chrome and look like email on steroids. But it’s way more than that.

Investment boosts Auckland broadband |

Tests run on home computers around the country have shown double-digit improvements in broadband speeds, albeit off some low bases.
Data gathered by international broadband monitoring company Epitiro have shown Auckland internet users have the fastest speeds in the country, but Canterbury, Wellington, Taranaki and Marlborough/Tasman are not far behind.

Super-fast broadband plan given go-ahead |

Government belt-tightening has not affected a pre-election promise to spend $1.5 billion on delivering super-fast broadband. Speaking at an industry conference yesterday, Communications Minister Steven Joyce confirmed a commitment to a high speed broadband network capable of upload and download speeds of 100 Mbit/s - around 50 times faster than generally available today - over a 10-year timeframe.

Over time, consumers who receive a retailer's permission-based email become more likely to do business with-and develop a more favorable opinion of-that company, according to new research from direct marketing agency Epsilon.
